Week 4 Progress – Andrew

Goals

Note: Less ambitious goals this week due to midterm and job interview. :/
– Add in support for more entity types (as they’re needed)
– Research particle effects (possible implementation of rudimentary effects).
– Implement at least one HUD element. Specifically aiming for ship (or any chosen object) location markers on screen.
– Add in visualization of tractor beam.
– If time allows (stretch goal): Research HDR/Bloom. Start work on integrating these or similar lighting effects.

– Add in support for more entity types (as they’re needed). (Well okay… Kristina and others actually did this, not me, but it’s done either way).
– Research particle effects. Will start work this week on implementing.
– Implement at least one HUD element (ship location markers on screen)

– Add in basic text support

 

Reasons for Unaccomplished Goals

Reason for all unaccomplished goals:
– Midterm + Interview makes jack a busy boy. Also, I’m not sure the tractor beam needs to be anything special. It might work better as a simple cone model with texture and alpha values less than one.

List of unaccomplished Goals:
– Add in visualization of tractor beam.
– If time allows (stretch goal): Research HDR/Bloom. Start work on integrating these or similar lighting effects.

 

Goals for Next Week

– Particle effect for rockets.
– Add more hud elements (hook them in to actual data from server once it’s available)
– Visualization of tractor beam. (Although maybe I just need to bug Adrian about that. It’ll probably look better that way.)
– Research HDR/Bloom. Start work on integrating these or similar lighting effects. Maybe reflection if time allows.

 

Morale

Fine enough. Wish last week hadn’t been so busy, but that couldn’t be avoided. Glad the ship identifiers look as good as they do.
