Jacky's Week 10 Report

what were your concrete goals for the week?

My goals were to keep working on game balancing and add any new gameplay mechanics that weren't in the game yet.

what goals were you able to accomplish?

There wasn't much time since the last meeting, so I've mostly been messing around with some of the values, such as the range and strength of tractor beams, and the bear's attack speed.

if the week went differently than you had planned, what were the reasons? note that this happens regularly...I would prefer you to be aggressive in what you want to try accomplish rather than limit yourself to goals you know you'll easily achieve. so answering this question is more of a reflection on the development process and the surprises you encounter, it's not at all an evaluation.

There was quite a lot of friction with playtesting with the UI not being implemented, as it was difficult to see my own health and what events were ongoing. After it is merged I expect it will be much smoother.

what are your specific goals for the next week?

We floated the idea of potentially adding another task to complete that involves fighting alien ships. While that sounds like a big feature this late in development I think it wouldn't actually be that bad since we can reuse some functionality and models.

what did you learn this week, if anything (and did you expect to learn it)?

Not too much, since it's only been a couple days and I wasn't really doing anything groundbreaking.

what is your individual morale (which might be different from the overall group morale)?

I'm glad to see our game being finished. Of course there's more we could have done, but given that we basically started from scratch, I think we've come pretty far and the game is in a pretty good state.
