My concrete goals were to finish the low polygon models of the player ship and the mothership, and prepare to add more details.
I successfully finished the low polygon models! They are rendered in game. What a great feeling!
I always want to be ahead of schedule, so barely finishing the low-polygon models was a little stressful. I had to fully redo each ship model at one point because Blender is finicky, and I am unfamiliar with the hotkeys.
Next week, I want to finish the detailed version of the player ship and the mothership. More ambitiously, I want to model some UI interfaces and secondly, the in-game environment.
I was taking notes of my own modeling process and what other 3D artists do, and this preparation should help me complete the more detailed models next week. Through this process, I also realized that importing my concept art (a sort of blueprint) into Blender might be more helpful. I will probably try that.
At some point during the week, it was stressful because the rest of the group was waiting on my work so that the graphics could be tested. I was the block temporarily, but I got unstuck, and hopefully, I will finish adding details to the models faster.
