My goals were to finish up the tractor beam mechanic, and also help with tweaking the numbers for some existing features to make the game more fun to play. I was also planning to work on the revive mechanic if there was time.
From my plans, I ended up basically only doing the tractor beam, but it is finished and players are able to attract items from a distance. I also did some miscellaneous fixes, such as fixing the input dropping issue and some collider alignment issues.
I ended up doing a fair bit less than I wanted to this week, mostly just because of the overhead that's been accumulating with our project. The others are making a lot of progress really fast, and I was the one spending a lot of time ensuring they are merged correctly into the main branch, and also fixing any conflicts they had with my ongoing features. This left a bit less time for me to do my own tasks, and also made me more wary when changing the systems that the others are working on.
My goal is to put a pause in new features for now, and focus on making our existing systems functional and fun to play with, for example making shooting down asteroids satisfying. This will mostly involve tweaking numbers and enhancing existing functionality where needed.
Not much new this week. I feel like this will be more and more common, as we transition from learning to use tools to create new things, to working with the existing infrastructure that we have built.
My morale is decent, I do feel I could have done more personally, but at the same time seeing what everyone else has been cooking has been pretty motivating.
