Nora's Week 9 Report

what were your concrete goals for the week?

My concrete goals for the week were to move from miniaudio to using fmod in the sound effects and pick up any tickets that need to be completed.

what goals were you able to accomplish?

I was able to use fmod in the sound effects and was able to implement 3d sound effects so that explosions got quieter as they got further away. I also implemented the win and lose animations.

if the week went differently than you had planned, what were the reasons? note that this happens regularly...I would prefer you to be aggressive in what you want to try accomplish rather than limit yourself to goals you know you'll easily achieve. so answering this question is more of a reflection on the development process and the surprises you encounter, it's not at all an evaluation.

Most of the week was focused on trying to get my sound effects pr merged. I was having trouble getting reviews on it from other OS than mac, so when it was merged there were some issues on the windows that I did not know about. Jacky ended up fixing them, so thank you to him!

what are your specific goals for the next week?

My specific goals for the next week are to try and catch any issues in either game design or logic that need to be fixed before the demo comes around. I think we will need to have a few playtests with all 4 clients to see how it holds under pressure and what areas we still need to address.

what did you learn this week, if anything (and did you expect to learn it)?

I learned a lot about how to create animations. It was a large learning curve for me to figure out how to pan a camera and make the animation not feel awkward for a lack of better words. There was a lot of struggle for me with the camera being the right distance away from the mothership while also following the events happening.

what is your individual morale (which might be different from the overall group morale)?

My individual morale is good. I hope I can get everything merged soon so that I do not need to worry about rebases. I look forward to finishing up those final touches so that we have a full playthrough soon!
