Sofia's Week 9 Report

what were your concrete goals for the week?

I wanted to at least finish the mothership once and for all. Then tweak some preset models and finally work on sound effects.

what goals were you able to accomplish?

I am still trying to properly UV unwrap the mothership in order to create its material.

if the week went differently than you had planned, what were the reasons? note that this happens regularly...I would prefer you to be aggressive in what you want to try accomplish rather than limit yourself to goals you know you'll easily achieve. so answering this question is more of a reflection on the development process and the surprises you encounter, it's not at all an evaluation.

I had much less time than expected for this week and could not make a lot of progress because we are almost at the end of the whatever, and I kept noticing missing triangles on the mothership model. After experimentation with the playerships, I want to limit the amount of weird graphics implementation by creating a (literal) solid and connected UV map.

what are your specific goals for the next week?

Since we are approaching Week 9, pretty much the last week of the project, I need to wrestle with the idea of an imperfect UV map and just do the thing! Be scrappy at this point because the demo is soon.

what did you learn this week, if anything (and did you expect to learn it)?

I learned that 3D artists are warriors, how to prioritize tasks, and the importance of balancing perfection and brute force implementation on a group project.

what is your individual morale (which might be different from the overall group morale)?

I am fired up to finish modeling so that I can work on the sound!!
